I can already hear some students asking, “Why would a Reformed seminary offer access to a Catholic database?” Short answer: for the same reason we offer other non-Reformed resources. Students need to interact with scholarship from a variety of worldviews and theological outlooks so that they can hone their own views better – that’s the reality of the world you’ll be serving in when you leave the safe confines of seminary. My other answer is a reminder – that we were all Catholic until the Reformation; unless we wish to jettison 16 centuries of church history, then we need to pay attention to such resources.
Searching the CPI is similar to ATLA, but with fewer options (you cannot search by scripture passage for example). Contact us if you need guidance on utilizing this new resource.
